What are the main factors that affect the quality of flame cutting?

Flame cutting is actually to burn metal by high-pressure oxygen flow to blow away the metal. Stainless steel has a high melting point, poor thermal conductivity, and stainless steel is not easy to burn. When cutting stainless steel with flame, under the influence of preheating flame temperature, there is A thin layer of the oxide film, which is called high melting point and high viscosity Cr2O3, covers the surface of stainless steel, preventing the next layer of metal from burning, so it cannot be cut normally.

⑴ Cutting gas

Commonly used for flame cutting gas are acetylene, propane, liquefied gas, coke oven gas, natural gas, etc. From a comprehensive consideration of pollution, energy consumption, cost ratio, etc., natural gas is currently the most suitable gas for cutting. However, natural gas also has its limitations, that is, the flame temperature is not high, which results in cutting efficiency not as good as acetylene.

To make up for this shortcoming, manufacturers using natural gas cutting generally choose to add synergists to natural gas to increase the flame temperature and improve the cutting efficiency.

⑵ Influencing factors

1. Effect of oxygen purity In the process of gas cutting, the influence of oxygen purity on cutting speed, oxygen consumption and cutting quality is relatively large. The purity of oxygen decreases, the cutting speed becomes slower, and the combustion effect of metal in oxygen becomes worse, which will affect the cutting quality.

2. Influence of impurities and defects in gold shavings The inclusion of impurities in the metal has a great effect on flame cutting, and some impurities even make the metal unable to perform the flame cutting.

3. The influence of gas purity on cutting quality The purity of gas has little effect on the cutting quality and cutting process, but impurities in the gas will have a certain effect.

4. The effect of cutting speed on cutting quality The flame cutting speed should be appropriate, not too fast or too slow. If the cutting speed is too fast, it will cause dragging and cutting, or even burn the cutting torch and interrupt the cutting; if the cutting speed is too slow, the upper edge will burn down, the lower edge will be seriously drossed, the cutting seam will be widened, and the quality of the cutting surface is also not ideal.
